Kids Backpacks Frequently Asked Questions

Choose a backpack designed for kids: they’re made with lighter material. Make sure the backpack sits close to the body, with minimal space between the child’s back and the pack. The pack should be roughly the length of the torso (bottom of bag 2 inches below the waist).
Kids can wear backpacks at any age as long as the pack’s weight doesn’t exceed 10-15% of their body weight and is properly fitted (see above).
A good kids backpack is adapted to the child’s needs and should: be lightweight, have small compartments to organise belongings, have a padded laptop compartment (for older kids), have adjustable shoulder straps, have useful details like carry handles and name badge.
