Dedicated winter jackets and padded jackets with thick multi-layered insulation are particularly good coats for boys that enjoy going out in cold weather. They usually also feature a hood to help keep heads and ears warm on winter days. Down jackets are also exceptionally warm, as the down insulation traps warm air within the jacket.

It’s often advisable to get a size larger than what they would take for t-shirts and sweatshirts, as you want to allow room for the layers underneath, particularly during the winter.

It’s often wise to have at least two jackets for a child – one for particularly cold winter weather, and another lighter one for autumn and spring. You might also have an additional smart jacket for special occasions.
